Shrove Tuesday
Pancakes and fire!
Fire? What are you talking about?
Well here we go, Pastor Tom is shaking us up again. On Shrove Tuesday we will burn the palms from last year, grind them up and have them ready for the imposition of ashes the next day - Ash Wednesday. So if you have your palm crosses left from last year, bring them to the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Feb 21. More details about that later.
Shrove Tuesday,
Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Máirt Inide, Užgavėnės, Fausnacht, El Martes de Carnaval, or Shrovetide
What ever you call it - we will join together family style for our annual pancake supper Tuesday, February 21st, at 5:30 pm. The Fellowship MT will provide the pancakes and sausage, and you should bring your favorite pancake toppings.

What’s Next for Our Aluminum Cans?
Thank you to ALL who so diligently donate your aluminum cans for Dogs for the Deaf. The can donations were collected and sold by the Los Alamos RV club, through the coordination of Mary and Jules Dufour. The proceeds were used to purchase Dogs for the Deaf and several were placed with-in New Mexico. A big thank you to Mary and the Los Alamos RV Club! Unfortunately the RV Club is no longer participating in this function and our cans are overflowing!
We are looking for a leader of recycled cans! We can use this as a fund raiser for another non-profit or for a special need here within the church. Is anyone interested in coordinating collection and sale of aluminum cans? Please contact the office and we can provide you with details.
For Ministry Team Leaders
as you plan your meetings
Just a reminder to everyone who uses our facility - even if you are planning a “Church” related meeting or activity don’t assume that there is space available. Even if a room is empty when you arrive - it might not stay that way. Please, please, please call Kris in the office to reserve a time and place to meet. Our building is in use every day and night so let us help you avoid any conflicts by setting up your appointment first.
Once Voted Book of the Year!
Phillip Yancy’s “The Jesus I Never Knew”
OOPS we over ordered, but you can benefit! We have 8 extra copies of The Jesus I Never Knew. You can purchase one in the office, during office hours, at the reduced rate of $10.00. If you can’t make it during the week, call and reserve your book and we will make other arrangements.
Please Read Through the Prayer List
We’re bursting at the seams
We have many people on our Prayer List right now, some of whom have been on there for a year or more. We do wish to keep those who are still in need of prayer, but if one of your loved ones has recovered, or is rejoicing in answered prayer, it would be very helpful if you would let us know - editor@bethluth.com .

2011 ELCA Youth Gathering
SAVE THE DATE!!!!
The 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering will be held July 18th – 22nd, 2012 in New Orleans. It seems early, but it’s time to put those dates on your calendar so we can start planning the trip. Registration opens at 2:00 p.m. EDT on October 9, 2011 and will close when 39,000 registrations have been received. Registration usually closes within the first couple of days.
The theme for the Gathering is Citizens with the Saints. It is drawn from the second lesson for July 22, 2012, Ephesians 2:14-20. (paraphrased) “Jesus broke down the dividing walls so that we are no longer strangers and outsiders, but we are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God. The foundation of God’s house was built of apostles and prophets, and Jesus, the cornerstone, holds it all together.” More information on the Gathering can be found at .www.elca.org/gathering.
Office Hours:
Monday - Thursday - 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00p.m.
